Actually the old WIBG 50G is no longer on the property. When we
removed it from service in 1983 (when we installed an MW-50B), the
transmitter did sit in the garage for about six months. Then we
sold it to a group from the UK who were going to use it on one of
the offshore pirates. I'm not sure which one it was, but if you
know of one that installed a 50G in the mid-eighties, that's
probably it.
FYI...we do have an old transmitter sitting in the garage: the
old WFIL Gates BC-5H with its 10KW modulator.

>Ask Rene about the venerable old RCA Ampliphase BTA-50G used at
the ex-WIBG AM 990 in Philly. As I understand it, that
transmitter was an endless pain in the rear to keep tuned and
sounding good. I think they still have it in a garage in pieces
in case it is needed for on-air duty.
