[BC] How would you build it?

Not sure,  there is something to be said about brute force.  There is the story about vandals at KDKA way back when. During a Steelers game some took car battery jumper cables and shorted the ball gap. The modern ( for the time ) transmitter shutdown on VSWR trips and the old Westinghouse beast was switched on line. Meter readings were a funny  at first and then popped to Normal. Later it was discovered that the Westinghouse initially tried to put 50 KW into a dead short until it melted those heavy gauge jumper cables when everything returned to normal.
