Prior to defense lawyers challenging the authority of the FCC to do
exactly that, establishing a new "precedent" and such, that was a
routine function of the FCC.
That was all prior to their very significant V-chip and wardrobe
malfunction functions, though.
How many of us as very small children did fear the FCC, explicitly
because they absolutely would confiscate equipment ?
I guess you have to be over 50 to remember when government
actually did *government* functions, and not mostly
religious charity work.
