I think you'll find that the dbx units will start to exhibit odd problems like this well before you hear any hum that may come from baked filter caps.  Another symptom is strange gain reduction behavior.  All of this is still due to the filter caps, believe it or not.

I suggest you recap the worst offending unit and see if this trouble doesn't go away.

Or at least pop the lid and measure the ripple on the regulator inputs.
