And that's Atlanta, Texas!  That station is dead and gone, and the FCC is not taking applications for 1610 anymore,   Don't forget 530 has no US stations on it.  Going higher in the band ( 1710 to close to 1800 ) presents a problem.  There are no radios, that will currently tune it except for a general coverage shortwave radio.  And going higher up in the band decreases ground wave.  5000 watts up there is more or less flea power for ground wave and a tremendous amount for skywave.  I'd rather have 250 watts on 540 than the 10,000 watts on 1700. It will get out a much greater distance.  Even with 100 watts at night 540 gets out better than 1000 watts on 1700.
