Don't get me wrong, patents are intellectual property and they are
protected. While I believe many actions are frivolous as are the patents
on which they're suing, patents are still protected.

Where the problem lay is patents are considrered tangible assets capable
of being sold. Gone from the people who toiled on the development of
whatever they pioneered.  And in today's rapidly changing society, 27
years is simply too long a period of relevancy.  These patents are already
15 years old.  Ancient in the Moore's Law world.

Like the automation patents, I wonder if these patents were filed based on
a very minisucle varation of prior art.  If so, I would expect they would
fail under close scrutiny.
