And practically no commerce between the provinces and even fewer clocks.
You don't need to know what time the sun comes up unless you are the FCC.

have ONE Time Zone, the Central Time zone for ALL of the USA, that would end
all confusion.

China does not have DST (called "Summer Time" in most of the world) but they
have one time zone, based on Beijing time. China really covers what we would
call five time zones. So, if the folks in Sinkiang province go to work at 9
a.m., it would be before sunrise most of the year. I guess they must work
from 1 to 9 p.m., Beijing time.
