Dave:

Hey, thanks for the additional poop on WFIL and WIBG combination. Here in
Springfield, MO, at KWTO AM 560, we protect WFIL and other 550, 560, and
570s around the country. I had heard as a kid that WIBBAGE 'protected
Canada' and now I know from your message. Is WALE still dark?

I'm curious as to the original impetus to co-locate both stations in the
first place? Must have been a very tall capital investment. Both stations
worked just fine so far as I knew back in the 1950s, 60s and 70s when I
lived in the Philly area. ???

Since AM is having such a hard time propagating to its COLs and beyond these
days, I wonder why we need so much mutual protection anymore in the daytime?
Heck, I couldn't receive WFIL 560 Philly here in the Ozarks of my life
depended on it. Nighttime is a whole different ballgame, of course. The AM
band has been pretty lively at night her in South Central Missouri. Hear all
kinds of stations from all corners of the country on my little cheapie clock
radio.

Regards/J

>WFIL is still a 3 tower DA-2, now diplexed with 990. With the 990 towers
being short electrically for 560, WFIL now runs 7.3 kW day, and 8.1 kW at
night. I worked >for the 990 in RI that protected WIBG; it started life as
WLKW, now dark as WALE. A 6- tower(2x3)that protected possibly Winnipeg and
990 in Newfoundland as >well. Main cigar shaped lobe was pointed at downtown
Providence.
