Hey, if you really want to go for 'cool' I saw a design in an electronics
magazine in the 1970s for a Fresnel TV antenna that used carefully arranged
wooden slats for reflectors. It was highly directional and tunable. It made
use of the same phenomenon that produces 'ghosts' on the screen: multiple
reflections, only in this case in-phase and coherent. Always wanted to
build one of those beauties!
