[BC] "Characters"

The John Booth story reminds me of some nightclub owners I've
encountered. While setting up remotes for jazz and rock stations over
the years, I was treated to a behind-the-scenes look at quite a few of
these establishments. The guys who run those places tend to be
*really* crazy, but make out like bandits most every weekend. Maybe
it's all that cash that makes them paranoid.
One of them bought several HTs (stolen from the Philadelphia Naval
Yard) for his security detail, but didn't bother to reprogram them
from the marine channels (because this would "cost money") and, of
course, got nailed by the FCC a few weeks later.
I could tell similar stories about these characters for hours.
