I'd do BRIC-HQ over the public internet without hesitation. It's only
about a 30k/s stream and sounds darn good. Trying to stream LPCM at
1.5Mbit/s is just asking for trouble (not to mention bandwidth caps on
either end).

I'm in love with Comrex products, i've got nothing bad to say about
the folks over there. If you ask for a feature, they generally are
very receptive to new ideas. I've sent them wifi radios before and
they've added drivers for me to the firmware.

Also, the Comrex/Tieline boxes can do SIP as well so you can attempt
to avoid other issues such as firewalls.

Most know my feelings about the Barix boxes. Something designed for PA
systems does not belong in the broadcast plant, and most definitely
does not belong being used as a cross-country STL/TSL.
