WGNY AM is a 3 tower DA built in a swamp. It has elevated radials,
never had anything else. EPA regs prohibited burying radials, or in fact
clearing much of the property. There are 6 radials around each tower,
common ends are joined. The radials are 20' above ground on phone
poles, slanting down at the tower bases.. The property is cleared only
in 20' or so paths for the counterpoise wires. The wires are
copperweld. There are some maintenance issues from trees or branches
leaning over onto the counterpoise. In some places they will arc and
burn through. There were no "extra" issues in filing for the license or
CP, just a "normal" proof. I don't think that the FCC would accept a
MOM proof, though. There haven't been any copper thefts (even of the
strap between towers, which is up on posts with the transmission lines).
The array is very visible on Google Earth in some imagery dates. 41 31
