[BC] Uselessness of HD

I've wondered the same thing regarding streaming.
When the IP addresses of most of the listeners are
obviously in other states or countries, what is
the benefit to our local advertisers? The radio
stations have to pay Sound Exchange and the other
licensing organizations for those listening. A
distant listener isn't likely to drive a thousand
miles to buy a recliner from our local furniture
store. Where is the ROI? And, we're pulling
potential listeners away from their own local
stations. Please enlighten me as to how this
benefits local radio.
