Yes.
Magnavox (a perfectly viable system) was initially approved by the FCC.
Leonard made such a stink (Let the marketplace decide!!) that the FCC threw up
their hands and said: "OK"!!
By the time the dust settled (almost five years later), Motorola became the
'marketplace' choice--and most music listening had moved to FM!
Is Leonard 100% responsible for the decline of music on AM? No - but he did
contribute to it.
At least that's my $.02

Initially, there were five. Kahn, Motorola, Magnavox (initially
selected by the FCC) and, I believe, Harris and Belar. Motorola had
political clout and, as expected, won.
