RE: Advantage of Running 52.5 kW instead of 50 kW
A 50 kW AM station on 1000 kHz using a 195-degree tower, and having a 2-ohm
loss in its r-f ground connection produces a groundwave field of 10 mV/m
over 8 mS/m d.c. 13 earth at a radius of 34.4 miles.
If that same configuration was driven with 52.5 kW, its 10 mV/m radius would
be 34.7 miles.
(Using the FCC groundwave propagation charts for the frequency and
conductivity.)
