Richard,

In the 60s, most every 833 transmitter I worked on had a switch on the  
front panelto change to the conelrad frequency.

Many times, station personel might accidently hit the lever which  
wasn't well protected.  I made several early morning trips to the  
transmitter just to discover it wasn't on the right frequency.

They didn't "tune" anything ..... the power just went down and the  
833s ran much more color.
