When I was just getting started as an engineer and working every temp radio job I could get, I used to help an engineer with the old Proofs of Performance. We worked on a 1Kw RCA on 1400 that had two crystals one of which was on 1240. I was told the TX could do it at reduced power. This was in the late 1970s.

Do not believe Wikipedia. No station -- none, ever switched to 640 or 1240 kc/s for CONELRAD. In the days of kilocycles, there were no instant-tune transmitters.
