[BC] Usefulness of EAS

In Dallas Texas at WRR the back Full Period Ring Down phone on the wall was from Cheyenne Mountain, CO.  That line was tested on a weekly basis until that alerting system was replaced by the UPI/AP teletype system as I recall.
