I'm talking about people as the dress and get ready for work. The BART fire kept 59,000+ people from using BART across the bay today, plus those folks who drove instead clogged up the Bay Bridge so that there was a 2-hour delay at the toll booths.
So, we're talking about people who weren't anywhere near BART and could have benefited from knowing in advance of leaving home that there would be no transbay service.
If not for BART, is EAS useful for anything in the Bay Area? It's used out here only for small creek floods in the winter, which are extremely localized and usually affect only a few hundred people. But the EAS broadcasts are heard throughout the entire region, which is about a 100 mile diameter from Santa Rosa to San Jose.
