It really depends on the station. We weighed it for the very reason I'm 
harping about the various frequent firmware updates.  It keeps a station 
compliant until the dust settles.

But given the cost is generally $1k between the full and converter 
units, the reason really needs to be all financial at this point.  I see 
no real operational advantage.
