Yep.
I have a professor friend who teaches video production. The kids all have
DSLRs and they produce far better HD video then TV cameras that cost 100X
their price a couple of years ago. A DSLR, a decent mike and Final Cut Pro is
a powerful combination. You could produce a movie with this.

I read the story and it mentioned the show was being shot on a Point & Shoot
Canon DSLR. The photo online with the article doesn't clearly show the
camera, but it appears to be a DSLR rather than a point and shoot.
Like someone else pointed out, DSLR's are being used all the time to shoot big
& small budget projects.
