If I recall correctly most cars had 6 V Pos ground systems thru 1955. Ford
went to 12 V Neg ground in 1956. A lot of semi tractors still had Neg
ground systems in the 1060's when I was installing Motorola Motracs in them
which were provided with a special internal plug which would make the Motrac
work on either Pos or Neg ground.
