The old VW bugs had 6V positive ground, IIRC. The Continental PDM
transmitters had a 0VDC plate voltage with the cathode at negative thousands
of volts. Got around the Harris patent. Control grid voltage on tubes also
have a negative voltage referenced to cathode.
