I ran a sweep of this antenna using the classic Delta Bridge OIB-3, and PI
SD-31/RX-31 Followed by a sweep using an Array Solutions AIM 120 VNA.
I was pleased to find both instruments in complete agreement.
This self supporting 200 foot tower oftentimes is difficult to keep in tune
during excessive tides and inclement weather. A few years back some tower
reconstruction ended up shorting out the nuts on the thru bolts of the base
insulators. theses were cleaned of sand and the captured cavities filled
with a high grade epoxy casting resin. The grounc consists of eight #4
solid wires 200 feet long twisted together into a cable which is anchored by
an engine block.
This area is a divers mecca, and some gifts of T shirts and baseball caps
keep the grounding apparatus under constant inspection.
