1.  The legal minimum limit is 8%;  the legal
maximum limit is 10%.  Those numbers
assume you are in the stereo mode.
 
2.  Just killing the pilot does not make the
station go mono.  Doing so can still result in
information in the stereo subchannel region,
which is useless as far as the receiver is
concerned.
 
3.  Demodulating the RDS signal requires
the presence of a 19 kHz pilot for the
synchronous demodulator to operate.
