Hi, Chuck.

No promises here but...we had a similar situation in TN - 450 feet, 2KW
TPO. Halving the number of bays and increasing the "raw" RF out there
definitely increased coverage in spotty areas. We did not see any
increase in multipath closer in. We've also had good fortune with
translators using a single bay ERI with maximum TPO.

David White at ERI has been extremely helpful in providing "patterns"
for side mounted omni rototillers and we've been able to use that to our
advantage in orienting the antennas on the towers.

Another alternative - if it's the 60dbu contour you're worried about -
is a booster to fill the area. (see
http://www.fcc.gov/mb/audio/translator.html#BOOST )Only hangups are
making sure that the booster 60dbu contour stays inside the station's
60dbu contour and the fact that since it's a co-channel arrangement, it
really has to be an area where the station's direct signal is zip. That
doesn't seem to be the case so that leaves a fill in translator.
Timing's bad for that unless you can find one and hop it in and the
rules have even tightened there.
