I think I would have taken the free year, and either used it as a back- 
up, or gotten one of the routers with two or more WAN ports.

A year free is worth it.  A month or two, I would walk too.

I have walked away from many, and the issues is always the same.   
Service and/or customer support fails, and I leave.  It takes really  
bad service to make me leave, but once they force me, I go.  I tend to  
take the path of least resistance.  As long as you don't MAKE me leave  
I won't.
