[BC] My troublesome HP Officejet 7000

I currently have three HP printers on my home network, one Cannon, and
one Epson. Well, the Epson comes and goes.

I just take the HP printers out of the box, hook them up to the
network, and away they go. My 4P took a bit longer. It was
originally connected using a Centronix parallel cable. I bought a
used network card and I couldn't get it to work. It only took about
20 minutes to determine I couldn't make it work. I asked a friend for
help, and he just gave me a network card. It worked as soon as it was
installed.

The biggest problem computer was a "free" Cannon three-in-one, that I
accepted mostly for its flat bed scanner which is much better than the
Cannon '80 scanner I was using. It requires drivers, and a set-up
procedure, which is ponderous but easy. I suppose that must be
because it is both a scanner and printer, but uses only one USB port,
but I don't know.

My point is, I would no more expect Mack OS 8 to work flawlessly than
Windoz 2000. Time, and software, march on.

I am glad you got it working, and also sorry it took so long. I doubt
I would have worked on it so long and just would have upgraded the OS
on the machines.
