Originally, there was room for 15 towers at that site.
As many may know, the east side of the site was sold for a K-Mart
parking lot and the array was reduced to 9 towers.
This resulted in the 50 kW day array having to be moved from the east-
most nine towers to the remaining 9 towers, what were the original
west-most 9 towers.
Also, the night power was reduced to 3 kW, also using the remaining 9
towers, down from 5 kW into the 12 towers.
Many years later and a lot of engineering time, and the two Class As,
which had apparently been operating at variance to their parameters,
thereby causing grief to WLQV, had to pay for new engineering at
WLQV, and to accept additional interference from WLQV and its newly
licensed 10 kW night array, which new array employed the existing 9
towers, but with optimized parameters.
Storer also paid lots of coin on 50 kW upgrades to 1020 in Los
Angeles and 710 in Miami.
