I once put up a temporary AM site so that the main one could be completely rebuilt after tornado damage. I used a Rohn Home TV tower and 16 radials made from aluminum electric-fence wire. The wires were laid on the ground. After the main site repair, we laid the temporary tower down. About 20 years later I visited the site. The aluminum wires were still there.

Yes.
Aluminum will rapidly oxidize when buried in the ground.

Phil,
Somebody told me aluminum could be used as ground radials for AM, but
deteriorate in the ground. It this true?
