[BC] Cassette deck maintenance

What we did at Gates/Harris-ATC was load an Ampex mono
(there was no stereo then) alignment tape into a cart
and put it in a machine. You could put that into one
board input and an oscillator in another. You could zero
beat the deck output with the oscillator, and if you
wanted wow and flutter you could bridge a scope across
both inputs and zero beat it to as close as you could
get to a diagonal line and watch it wobble partially
open. From this you could estimate the phase rotation
of the wobble (wow & flutter).

BTW that was so long ago we didn't have a counter in the
Bloomington plant.
