That's my understanding.

I spent much of my life in Tampa and the Melbourne area and FM and AM
reception was super.  I'm in Austin now and it's mediocre.  I don't
think it's anything about the location of my house because even during
camping trips in the general vicinity DX has been a dud.  I have
wondered if central Texas suffers from this but haven't been bothered
enough to go find out.  ;-)
