I think the STL boxes need be to put on an AES test rig to determine
comformance to the standard. A scope will only show the eye pattern,
simple noise and ultimate eye quality. It will not show clock or sample
rate, bit rate, timing, jitter, BER, or anything else related to AES QC.
Which brings up a point....does the Moseley output imbedded clock and does
either the Titus or Orban product require external clock sync? I think
the latter products have built in syncronizers. I don't know about the
DSP6000 however.
As silly as this sounds, you should plug the STL's into a high quality
sound card and mess with the sound card settings (if not automated) to see
which AES group is output. Moseley might be right...they're functioning as
designed, but potentially incompatible with the downstream products
lacking the clock sync system Moseley might employ. Recall this was a
problem in early AES days. And the DSP6000 series is from that era.
