Jeff:

Don't know if its a typo in your email, but its "new" Class D (daytime
only) stations that the FCC won't approve. They still grant new Class
C's, including a number during the last AM filing window. (These operate
fulltime on "local" channels and were formerly classified as Class IV
stations) . Note: An existing licensed Class B station can give up its
protected nighttime operation and hence become a "new" Class D daytime
only station, but a brand new station will not be authorized from the
start as a daytime only.

Also, you probably haven't seen yet an earlier response of mine noting
that there are 10 existing Class C stations with DA's - mostly daytime
but there are three with nighttime DA's

Regards,

Al Gearing

I have so far been able to find but one directional class C station in the CONUS non a local channel. Don't remember the call; maybe it's the one to which you refer.
