[BC] The end of small town radio

Our town and the schools have a "reverse 911" system that calls every
house on the list when the schools close at 5:?? in the morning. Wakes
us up in time to shut off the kids alarms.
My phone and my kids phones get a text for the same reasons.
Information gets out a lot faster this way than trying to figure out
which station to listen to, when. I live between NYC and Philadelphia
and there is not much that is local. I can remember listening to WOR AM
or NJ101.5 for school closings and waiting 15 minutes for them to get to
the W's in the list. IMHO school closings are not for radio anymore.
