Folks,

Did anyone go to see Prairie Home Companion live at your local movie theater tonight? It showed at 8PM Indianapolis time (8-10:10pm actually) and was really neat to see a live radio program live in a movie theater (thanks to digital projectors).

The video quality was excellent and the audio was superb, very well done. Elvis Costello was the musical guest and he participated in several of the radio plays. Did quite well and held his won among the other actors. It was amazing to see how the whole show went off like clockwork. There was only 1 1/2 secs where the video dropped off reminding you that is really was live. Otherwise, it was a perfect broadcast/

I've always wanted to see this live radio program in person because I love the fact there is still a live radio show being produced these days. I couldn't help but wonder how much longer Garrison Keillor is going to be around to do this, and then what? Who or what will take his place?

If anyone wants to see it again as an encore (and it is worth it) it is showing again this Tuesday February 9th.

Details...

"February 9, 2010 -- Coming to you straight from Thursday nights performance from the Fitzgerald Theater, and beamed into movie theaters across the country, it's a special edition of A Prairie Home Companion. Featuring legendary English singer-songwriter Elvis Costello, sibling vocal powerhouses Jearlyn and Jevetta Steele, songstress Heather Masse, and the finest folk duo around, Robin and Linda Williams. Also with us, The Royal Academy of Radio Actors; Sue Scott, Tim Russell and Erica Rhodes, with both Tom Keith AND Fred Newman creating sound effects mayhem. All this, plus a punched-up Guy's All-Star Shoe Band, and of course, The News from Lake Wobegon. Two hours of non-stop fun on the big screen."

Oh and thanks to local station WFYI for being one of Prairie Home Companion's champions for a long time (as well as all the others across the country!). I will be supporting you guys for airing PHC.
