The NFL supplied a 7Ghz 2721B without tracker and GPS to each of the 32
GDC's as well as select support people. Except for those two options, they
are loaded otherwise. Their vendors also use them as well as some teams on
the sidelines. It is a NICE instrument and has saved every GDC's butt many
times over so far.

HOWEVER, as with anything digital, there are sampling limits which in some
cases makes an HP 8590 or 8650 series analyzer a more suitable instrument.
And the marker section needs a little more user functionality work. ANd it
does occasionally lock-up. Recent firware upgrades have made the unit a
PILE more reliable. If you don't have the latest firmware, it really does
need to be updated.

That said, the trivial issues are peanuts compared to what the good folks
at Anritsu have done. If you know how to use a HP analyzer, you won't need
the manual to get started. Tek users, there will be a learning curve.

FWIW, They are working on a netowrk analyzer which will have options for
doing AM work. At present, their analyzer doesn't have a seperate receiver
input. The S parameter test set is integral and the unit is a one port
device. By spliting those elements into discrete inputs (R and A) and
output, the system designed by Ron Rackley can be used just like a 8751A,
but will eliminate a 50 lb. boat anchor as well as allow IP control and
quick recording of test data as a JPG or native vector file.

They might have one at NAB this April. IF they do, my 8751 will be for
sale rather quickly.....
