History Note;
 
The old WAIT, Chicago was the first station broadcast with a solid state 5 kW. AM transmitter.  It was designed by Westinghouse Corporation, owner of WAIT at the time as I recall.  Many of us listened to it at the NAB demo and some even listened to it off the air on 820. Westinghouse sold its design to RCA ans sold several as the BTA5SS.
