It wasn't a "speed" issue that I was raising, but more of a support issue.

Our NOC provides outsourced support for one of the major wireless phone
providers here in the US. If you knew the kind of hoops to get
restoration of service for the T1's to the cell-sites... ugh. OTOH, the
fiber sites... noooo problems.

When you talk of DSL being "faster" than T1, I'm guessing you mean the
advertised transfer rate. Of course, you'd never try to use that as a
CIR (committed information rate), right? Because you'd be sorely
disappointed if you really had to rely on it. Check out what the CIR
is that's offered on your DSL, or cablemodem, etc. Chances are that if
it's even offered at all, it's pretty small. Maybe as low as 64kbps!

But yeah, that wasn't really the point. The only point I was making is
that T1 used to make you an "important" customer in an outage situation.
Sadly, those days are gone. It's just costing more and more to be
treated like your connection is meaningful, and you're not just a guy
missing out on your email.
