groundsystem/radials?

Back in the mid-70's I had to fasten about 300 feet of 4" copper strap back
together after it was stolen and scrapped. It was recovered from the scrap
yard by the local police and returned, but in approximately six foot
lengths.

Rather than use silver solder, I welded it together. Oxy-acetylene torch
set to a slightly rich mixture. I used some bare #10 ground wire for the
welding filler with no flux. Didn't look picture perfect, but it filled and
connected fine. Had to hold the wire with pliers as it got real hot pretty
far up from the flame. I happened to dig up a piece of that 20+ years later
and it was just as good as when I welded it. Mechanically and electrically
solid.

These days I'd use a TIG welder instead. It'd do a better job and be easier
and cheaper. I would rather use that than silver solder.
