Global what?

Satellites that are spinners do not require any heating or cooling. The heat they acquire from the sun on the illuminated side is radiated into space on the dark side. This establishes an equilibrium temperature of about 59 deg F. This method of survival for the Apollo 13 crew was the reason why they did not freeze to death when staying in the LEM module. It was just set to rotate slowly and although the temperature was not comfortable, it was survivable.

The earth is warmed the same way. It receives energy from the sun on its daytime side and radiates it into space on the dark side. There is an additional amount of heat energy from decaying radioisotopes in the earth's core, but the major contribution to the earth's heat is the sun. This heating and cooling mechanism is what establishes the earth's mean temperature of 59 deg F as well.

Global warming fanatics claim that this mechanism is non-linear and there is some (new invention) "tipping-point," beyond which we are doomed because we are putting carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

This unprofessional, unscientific, fear mongering is designed to make money for those who fight "global warming." The news media publishes practically nothing about the science that refutes the fear mongers.

The "gas" that dominates global warming is water vapor. We see it all the while in clouds. Carbon dioxide is observed to increase, probably because of increased biological activity, AFTER the temperature increases, not before. It is water vapor that creates the weather, and it is the major transport mechanism by which the sun's heat is distributed on the earth.

When the global warming theories were first proposed, a professor at a university in Oregon asked me to write a driver for an A/D board. This was to obtain measurements and produce heating and cooling curves for various atmospheric gases. It turns out that there is nothing special about carbon dioxide. It follows Boyle and Charles's gas laws as expected. It is no different from any diatomic gas like nitrogen and oxygen and, therefore, cannot be a contributor to so-called global warming. Of course, we do not hear about these experiments nor do we see these papers being published. However, there was a committee of concerned scientists, who were bothered by the junk science of global warming. My name is amongst thousands who have signed several petitions.

However, the NAME WAS HIJACKED and became the "Union of Concerned Scientists," which publishes many theories as though they were facts. Since it has a connection to MIT, it is assumed by the media to be correct and factual. Instead, it is a group of political activists, many of whom are using junk science to further political goals. They are Al Gore lackeys. You know the guy who claimed he invented the Internet and later published "Inconvenient Truth."
