If you haven't, you should read the proposal made by the Broadcast Maximization Committee (BMC). I believe there's at least a link to it on Barry's web site. One of the proposals, as I remember, is to "re-farm" the MW band to allow for true nation-wide signals, after all the little teapot stations have migrated to a new VHF band.
