Well, except that there is a need for regional or even national  
coverage (not that that can be done by one transmitter in the USA).

Medium Wave broadcasting can cover a large area.

Yep, I can agree that the peanut stations should go away to allow for  
improvements to the national or regional stations, but I am dreaming  
in the US.  In other countries, they do what is right for the public.
