I could go for that under the right circumstances. **IF** the plan proposed by the Broadcast Maximization Committee (BMC) for the AM Band and TV channels 5 and 6 were to be implemented, or some similar plan that would move existing AM stations to a new band, the AM band could be re-packaged in a way to serve national listener interests. One way would be to designate at least some of the AM channels as "super-power" CLEAR CHANNEL stations, such as WLW was once. These stations could reach a NATIONAL audience, and could serve a number of diverse groups, such as travelers, especially truckers, with specific targeted programming. As it is, the AM band at night is very less viable than when broadcasting first started, due to the increased noise floor, and interference from the myriad stations now permitted to stay on overnight with low power, even on the Clear Channel frequencies.

Give'em 500,000 watts day and night, maybe even 750,000 watts. One frequency, one station. And KEEP THEM ANALOG!! It's been found that IBUZ doesn't play well with skywave. And it will make sure that ANYBODY can listen to them--no fancy radio needed, even a crystal set if nothing else.
