Actually, I tell them my plans for the day or week if I know them and the
basic goals. This gives them the chance to redirect me at their discretion
if they feel something is more pressing. Which most of the time it's not.
It gets acknoledged and mixed into the schedule.
There's a reasion I'm not in the office most of the time. I have a 2nd
studio complex, 10 TX sites and an 11th site under construction with 21
transmitters to maintain.
The key is to sustain the dialog and keep proactive about being in the
loop and radar. The second you are out of the radar of knowledge, you're
done until you get back into it.
Communications about engineering is just as important with management as
sales and programming are. You are your only booster. Trumpet it... Even
if the GM says he doesn't need to know. He/she really does....
