I think sometimes as engineers, we're our own worst enemies.
I will admit to doing engineering too cheaply in the past because I
simply needed the money. It's one of those short-term gratification
things that kill us all long term, but I bet most of us have cut our
own throats at one time or another when we had our backs against the
wall.
I'm told now that unemployment is approaching a 26 year record, which
pretty much covers my entire career. I've been telling people I've
never seen anything like this, but the numbers tell me there's a
reason.
If I get desperate enough, I may do it again.
