It's not a legend. Most managers come from sales. How many times have
we read here about companies that won't allow even the most basic
maintenance until the station is off the air and the commercial
makegoods begin piling up? How many times is a Manager told that a
piece of equipment has 6 months to live? 5 1/2 months later it begins
wheezing and there's a two month estimated delivery time for a new unit.

Why won't they survive their own stupidity? They seem to rise to the
top, make big bucks and stay until retirement or until a better offer
comes along. It's clear to me broadcasting doesn't hire people for
their brilliance. They don't fire their people for lack of it.

In this age of consolidation and Wall Street control fewer and fewer
people at the top have any broadcast experience.
