The thing is, Rich, that almost by definition, "funny" is something that happens to someone else, not to you. And way often, engineers work alone, so when something happens it happens to you, so it isn't funny.
The things that suggest actual brain death to me are the "little" things that happen all the time, like not being able to find a tool you just used (the worst is when you are looking helplessly for something that is actually in your hand), or leaving an unattended site with something in a wrong state -- typically a remote control in "local".
It takes live brain cells to do the creatively stupid spectacular stuff.
