Someone must've tried an erroneous repair on it over the years then, cuz the two mic pre's have 14-pin 741s in them. Not even compatible. This might well be why someone long before me pulled the board out of service ("It doesn't work right anymore, get a new one"). Got a Baystate buddy who has some S-14 manuals he can loan me, so at least I can get that part right.

Definitely an S-14 mono mixer; at least that's what's screened on the front panel and typed on the factory label inside. The guts could have come from somewhere else off the factory floor(?).

Of course, the cabinet-making aspect is next, and I'll be all over those DIY forums too, you bet. Veneering, moldmaking, lacquering...
