Hello all,
A new antenna has been designed which swaps dielectric and metal. It consists of a broadband impedance transformer of proprietary design that matches the free-space impedance to the impedance of the air interface.

This allows the RF field to be retarded and match the propagation characteristics of anything that in embedded in air, for instance, making a section of air seem like a section of metal. Although the complex mathematics is beyond the scope of this note, this results in emulating the characteristics of common antenna types and providing identical characteristics as far as bandwidth, gain, etc., but in extremely small packages.

The new technology would allow a broadcaster with a five-tower directional array covering ten acres, for instance, to condense the array into a small box sitting on top of a building. The valuable real estate would thereby be freed for other uses.

Newly released documentation is available here.
